-Brushes should be left to soak for about 5 minutes after which use a dark towel to clean brushes in-between second soak. the towel is a good idea, because it buffs out any dirt. alternately use an exfoliating mitt or a textured flannel, as they lather up the cleanser and help scrub brushes properly.

-Rinse brushes and lay flat  with the bristle facing down to dry, alternatively, use a brush rack .

In as much as people use  different techniques when cleaning makeup brushes, one major key to maintaining makeup brushes is how you dry your brushes, preferably lay it flat or  bristles facing upside down, as letting water get to the ferrule(the bit where the bristles are bonded together), will ruin the brushes as water dissolves the glue and fibre becomes unstuck.

  1. I usually wash my brushes prior to a big night out to ensure my makeup goes on as flawlessly as possible – but I rarely go out, and haven’t really worn makeup this past summer, and I just remembered reading your post that I left them soaking in soapy water .. Zzzz cause I haven’t used them in so long … oops. hahaa. Joys!
